nisbet plantation

Originally built as a sugar plantation in 1778 and formerly the home of Admiral Nelson’s wife, Fanny Nisbet, Nisbet Plantation Beach Club has a rich and colourful history. This beautiful oceanfront hotel offers high standards of accommodation, cuisine and service against a backdrop of understated colonial charm – and it’s the Caribbean’s only original plantation house hotel to be located on the beach. Guests are made to feel very welcome here and the service is consistently friendly and attentive.

Nisbet is set amidst coconut palms and lawns leading down to the white sand beach, just a few minutes from the airport.

365 beautifully furnished plantation-style rooms set in cottages throughout the grounds. All have air-conditioning, ceiling fan, tea/coffee making facilities and a private terrace. Deluxe suites have a separate fan-cooled sitting room with sofa bed – both Superior Rooms (shower only) and Deluxe Suites (bath & shower) are located in semi-detached single storey cottages in the gardens. The more spacious split-level Premier Junior Suites are located on two levels and are closer to the beach with beautiful ocean views.

The original Great House is home to the cocktail bar, lounge and gourmet restaurant, where dinner is served each evening; it is furnished with original antiques and retains a delightful colonial ambiance. Breakfast is served in Coconuts while lunch is served in the Sea Breeze Restaurant. Once a week there is a beach barbecue. There is a large pool by the beach with hot tub, fitness centre, tennis court, croquet lawn, complimentary snorkelling equipment and a massage treatment room. Complimentary afternoon tea is served each day.

The management of Nisbet prefer it if children under 8yrs are served supper before 6pm. The beach at Nisbet is delightful but can be exposed to strong winds from time to rime making swimming challenging – swimming and snorkelling are excellent on calm days and the pool is large. The hotel is closed from 18th August to 13th October.
