Wonderful Testimonials

“You want to keep Africa a secret all to yourself but can’t help blabbing about it to everyone you meet. Thanks to ‘Wonderful World’ for sharing the secret with us and to Joanna for handpicking such a fabulous itinerary- what a perfect honeymoon!”

Tom and Paula Mullens

“The sunsets on the Delta are unbelievable, the sky turns many shades of orange and pink then the water will turn the same color. As you watch the sun set, it is as if you are the only people on earth, the horizon closes in around you and you are surrounded by colour. I will never forget that sight, it was by far the prettiest sunset I have ever seen.”

xigera camp

Xigera Camp (pronounced Keejera) is situated in the heart of the Okavango on Paradise Island, within the Moremi Game Reserve. Xigera is a superb, luxury tented camp, located in an area that is surrounded by permanent water. The new Xigera opened in May 2000 and consists of eight new luxuriously furnished walk-in tented rooms, with en-suite facilities, built within a shady forest.

Each room is raised off the ground offering superb views of the floodplain to the east of camp and its attractive waterhole. Each guest's room has a great view directly onto this floodplain. The dining and bar area is under thatch overlooking the river that flows past the front of camp. Activities focus mainly on mokoro rides through the quiet waterways, as well as short walking safaris. Many guests are lucky enough to get good views of the elusive Sitatunga antelope. Game drives are also offered if water levels are low enough, as are boat trips on the river, if water levels are high enough.

Game drives are best here in our summer months. Birding in the area is excellent, with Pels Fishing Owl, Slaty Egret and Wattled Crane amongst the many species of birds regularly sighted. Xigera has exclusive rights to this area, providing a tranquil and private setting for its guests.

It also has a unique feature: the footbridge in front of camp is the only way predators can cross from island to island without having to swim. A "long-jump pit" has been built with soft sand, which each animal is forced to walk over when they use the bridge. Every evening the sand is raked smooth. Each morning guests are able to read the "newspaper" and see what animals have walked through camp. Almost every night Lion, Hyena and Leopard stroll through camp!

kwetsani camp

Kwetsani Camp is a five roomed luxury tented camp located in a private reserve 25km to the west of Mombo and to the west of the Moremi Game Reserve. The rooms all have stunning views and are raised on stilts for an extra special setting. The outdoor showers are fabulous and all have views across the floodplains.

Kwetsani Camp is raised on stilts beneath a shady canopy. Five wonderful, spacious tree-house chalets are built under thatch roofs, with wood, glass and a little canvas.  All have en-suite facilities including a shower, flush toilet, twin basins and an additional outdoor shower. The camp overlooks an enormous floodplain dotted with Lechwe and Wildebeest. Guests can lie in their rooms, or in the pool, and watch the animals in front of the camp. All the Okavango's large predators are found here.

Activities include mokoroing, walking on palm-fringed islands and game drives during the day and night. Due to high flood water levels, the night drives are currently restricted to an hour's drive around the camp island. In the height of the Okavango's annual floods, boats are used to get around the area and also to transfer to the islands where the game viewing vehicles are located. Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog, Buffalo and Elephant are all found in this area, as well as good concentrations of Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, and all the plains game.

Access into this area is only by aircraft (depending on the Okavango's flood levels, either Jao or Hunda airstrip is used for access to this camp).

mombo camp

Mombo Camp is situated on MomboIsland, adjoining the northern tip of Chief's Island, within the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. The island is surrounded by open floodplains and the camp itself is largely built in and around the shade of some large Mangosteen, Ebony and Fig trees - overlooking a wonderful floodplain teeming with game.

The camp has nine luxuriously furnished tents, raised off the ground. The guests' rooms and connecting walkways that connect are up to two metres off the ground, allowing game to wander freely through the camp while at the same time allowing for guest safety. One often finds that animals take refuge under the rooms. The canvas rooms are spacious and well appointed and have en-suite facilities with an additional outdoor shower for those who enjoy a shower under the stars.

The dining room, pub and living area overlook the open plain in front of the camp and there is a plunge pool for relaxing in the heat of the day. Activities at Mombo include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles.

The camp offers abundant big game viewing, arguably the best in Botswana. The highlight is the concentration of plains game and all the predators - including the big cats. Lion sightings are particularly good. Guests can also see Leopard, large herds of Buffalo, Cheetah, Wild Dog, Elephant, Hyaena, Giraffe, Wildebeest and Zebra. Black and White Rhino have been reintroduced with outstanding success to the area, thanks to the Botswana Rhino Reintroduction Programme.

Access into this area is only by aircraft.

abu’s camp

There is nowhere else like this exquisite camp where it is possible to view game from elephant back. Getting to know the elephants at Abu Camp on a personal level is a rare and humbling experience. Meet each member of the herd, learn their history and begin to understand a little of what makes these grand, wise creatures what they are. Watch the interactions of the herd, how they walk silently and majestically along through the bush, trunks swinging, ears flapping – and then join them.

Abu Camp offers a three-night safari for a maximum of twelve people, ensuring that all the guests grow with the herd as they get to know them, offering a superb learning experience that is also a journey through the eyes of the elephants. All guests arrive and depart at the same time, allowing them to begin to relax and absorb the tranquillity of their surroundings and to get to know the herd at the same pace.

The camp is set deep in an ancient riverine forest, and consists of six custom-built, stylishly furnished “tents” with en-suite bathrooms. Each tent has its own tree-shaded deck overlooking the lagoon, which thrives with abundant bird and animal life. The main deck is sculpted around giant trees, creating a dappled, cool atmosphere where meals and drinks are enjoyed. Sundowners around a traditional campfire are followed by five-star meals prepared by expert safari chefs and served with the finest of wines. All of which is accompanied by the nocturne of the African bush: the roar of the lion, grunt of the hippo and haunting calls of the owl and nightjars.

islands of siankaba

The Islands of Siankaba Lodge is the most classic of forested retreats. Siankaba's six secluded chalets, each with its unique and individually different view of the mighty Zambezi River, are linked by a foot bridge to an haute cuisine restaurant.  All of this is located on two untouched islands in the middle of the mighty Zambezi River situated between the 'Seventh Wonder of the Natural World', the magnificent Victoria Falls, and the world famous Chobe National Park.

The Islands of Siankaba have been developed as a luxurious five star lodge, exclusively sleeping just twelve guests. The two islands are linked by a suspension bridge leading to an overhead walkway in the tree canopy which connects the elevated chalets. One of the distinctive features of the lodge is how the excellence of its food and wines have developed a reputation for ‘haute-cuisine in the bush’ to compliment its first class service.

The design and landscaping of all the facilities incorporates the use of natural materials that blend in with the feel of the surrounding bush and takes full advantage of the beauty of the riverine site.Whether looking for a relaxing post safari treat or in search of one of the many adrenalin buzz adventures available in the area, our guests needs will be surpassed by the lodge’s uncompromising levels of service and hospitality.

Micro-lighting over the Victoria Falls is an experience that most remember for a lifetime.
